Chirag Makwana
— Senior Robotics Engineer.
To me, robotics is where complex mathematics meets the physical world. I specialize in building full-stack autonomy software (C++/Python, ROS/ROS2) and making sure it runs reliably on physical hardware in unstructured environments.
Over the past 7 years, I have worked across diverse robotics domains. At Jio Platform Ltd, I developed real-time visual grounding and pose estimation pipelines on Nvidia Jetson AGX for humanoid manipulators. At Novus Hi-Tech, I architected navigation frameworks and 2.5D multi-gridmap fusion for offroad heavy vehicles (JCBs).

Visual Grounding & 6DoF Pose
Mapped natural language instructions to a humanoid robot's end-effector workspace. Optimized pose estimation pipelines on Jetson AGX, boosting inference frame rates by 40% using foundation models.
Offroad JCB Navigation Stack
Architected a complete navigation framework for an offroad skid-steer JCB vehicle. Developed custom path planners, route trackers, and robust motion controllers for unstructured environments.
2.5D Map Fusion & SLAM
Created probabilistic, evidential, and context-based gridmap fusion frameworks. Implemented multi-sensor mapping utilizing Laser, Camera, and Radar datasets on ground vehicles.
Drone Autonomy & OS Stack
Built a dockerized ROS OS for PX4/ArduPilot flight controllers. Developed behavioral landing systems, geo-fencing, I2C streaming packages, and WebSocket APIs with offline synchronization capabilities.
Fleet Management & Dispatch
Created custom scheduling and dispatch systems for agricultural and industrial robots. Integrated multiple robots dynamically inside Gazebo and managed operations using OpenRMF and ROS2.
Sport Medical Mechatronic Devices
Researched and built proof-of-concepts for mechatronic sport-medical devices. Developed geometric/kinematic posture-correction algorithms, GUI firmware, and AWS data pipelines.

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) based Assistive Device for Surgeons

Developed an assistive medical device leveraging Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) to alleviate fatigue and assist surgeons during long, physically demanding operating procedures. Built the mechatronic feedback loop, electrode driver circuits, and custom telemetry module.
